I am so beyond impressed with this young woman currently in route to Hawaii from California, rowing in a 21st foot boat all by herself. She’s more than capable and more than brave to do this to raise funds and awareness for #PlannedParenthood.

Please support her efforts and follow along. She had a tough day yesterday on the high seas and reports daily-when she has enough ‘juice’ to do so. She hails from Oregon and she’s a pro sailor. Still, she fascinates and worries me in equal proportions! Once a mama, always I guess.

Who are you?

I’m Kelsey.

I’ve been a professional raft guide since I turned 18. I’ve spent the past eight years as a boatman in Grand Canyon guiding mulit-day trips on the Colorado river. I competed on the USA Women’s Open Raft Race Team and represented the USA in the World Rafting Championships in Bosnia in 2022.

Most of my life has been spent finding new ways to be on a boat in the middle of nowhere.

Since the completion of my first ocean row in 2024 I have completely fallen in love with ocean rowing.

Has Kelsey ever crossed an ocean before?

Yup. Twice.
