This Writer is looking for Readers!
I’ve been on social media since 2007, years after I switched careers from psych nursing to freelance writing. My intention on my social media platforms has always been singular-find my tribe of readers out here who might dig my prose/posts/opines. As well, readers who find me tend to be folks whose prose/posts/opines I dig,too. I never thought of collecting money on these platforms. Seeking readers has been my only goal.
I’m old school,I know. I came up through the freelance writer ranks when our goal was to get one of our pieces accepted in a publication,which afforded a ‘byline’ the gold standard in magazine writing. Back in the day,securing a byline in a publication also willing to pay freelancers for our prose?

All these years later, I’m still looking for readers but asking my readers to pay me to comment on my prose doesn’t feel right. If I were an influencer with oodles of followers? I might feel differently.
Across my platforms, I have significant number of followers. On one platform, I have a significant number of likes - 51+ thousand-which tells me my comments offer value to some readers.
So I’m looking for followers and/or subscribers on this platform who dig what I write and may want to weigh in with your own comments. You are welcome here.

Not sure if I was the only one and glad to see some likes...To be clear, this is a great platform, timed well considering these times. I love the reports, interviews by journalists who've been kicked out of mainstream and love to fangirl my public people here, #NancySilverton, #RuthReichl & #HeatherCoxRichardson to name a few but adopting a form of 'PayToPlay' is now the norm out here in these #SocialMedia publishing platforms and by its definition, it's exclusive.
I fervently support #TheGuardian and #AssociatedPress and #Wikipedia because they aim to be inclusive.
Readers with expendable funds as well as those who don't have extra $$ need the news, need education, need information about this culture, so chaotic right now...So thanks for the likes...I'm heartened to know I'm not alone.
